Schools and Education
The public schools in Fairfield are administrated under the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District. High schools in Fairfield include the historic Armijo High School (founded in 1891) , Fairfield High School, an Angelo Rodriguez High School.
Post-secondary educational resources are abundant and accessible within the region, though they are not all in Fairfield, itself. Relatively nearby colleges and universities include Solano Community College, the University of California at Davis, the University of California at Berkeley, and California State University in Sacramento.
In Fairfield, itself, the only post-secondary institutions are Trinity College of Fairfield and Solano County Community College. Trinity College offers hands-on training in healthcare and pharmacy, massage, and holistic health. Solano County Community College is one of the one hundred and eight two-year institutions in California’s community college system. Solano Community College’s main campus is on 192 acres along Suisun Valley Road. Established in 1945 as Vallejo Junior College, SCC now serves approximately seventeen thousand students each semester, throughout the region, at the main campus, via online educational programs, and at extension facilities in Vallejo, Vacaville, and at Travis Air Force Base. Thanks to Solano County voters recent approval of the initiative, $124.5 million in public funds will be invested in the SCC system through 2009, primarily to upgrade and expand facilities at all of the SCC locations.
